In June 1967 they put the Beatles on satellite television and something like 400 million people watched them play this song at the same moment - the biggest audience there had ever been for anything. It's a deliberately simple song, because it had to land in every language at once. That's why I painted him in nothing but heat. Reds, oranges, yellows, the light coming from behind his head. The round glasses catch the light and hand it back to you.
